About Dr. Asnaani
Anu Asnaani, Ph.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in cognitive behavioral therapy for fear-based disorders. She is also currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, UT, USA. She was previously an Assistant Professor at University of Pennsylvania from 2013-2018 and Associate Director of the Center for Treatment and Study of Anxiety from 2017-2018, which is a world-renowned clinical powerhouse for PTSD, OCD, and anxiety disorders. She completed her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Boston University from 2007-2013, and her clinical internship from the Brown Alpert Medical School from 2012-2013. She has been a faculty member at the University of Utah since 2019.
Clinically, Dr. Asnaani has provided therapy to several hundred patients using cognitive behavioral therapy over the past decade, and has been the primary supervisor for over 25 therapists whom she has trained to treat a variety of mental health issues including anxiety/mood disorders, OCD, PTSD, substance use disorders, and personality disorders.
In her teletherapy practice, Dr. Asnaani takes an evidence-based but flexible approach to treating primarily fear-based disorders such as:

Panic disorder (with or without agoraphobia)
Generalized anxiety disorder
Specific phobias
Obsessive compulsive disorder

Dr. Asnaani is well versed in providing psychological treatment using strategies such as exposure therapy, mindfulness and values-based therapy, cognitive therapy, and motivational interviewing. Dr. Asnaani believes in a strong collaborative partnership with clients, and aims to empower clients to achieve what they want to get out of therapy in a warm, non-judgmental setting,
